I have tried to plant these beauties again and again, but always failed. Then I moved into a 1920 house, and here they are, undaunted, through decades. 






Orange and papery, they are almost too bright to be real.



May is peak purple and pink in the secret garden, with dahlias

And the wicked dark purple iris behind the waterfall






The children make picnics for faeries





and houses





I can't remember what this plant is, but we call it Dr. Suess flower




The columbine starts in April but still going strong in May
